Brazil Producer Prices Fall the Most since 2023

Producer prices in Brazil declined by 1.29% in May 2025 compared to the previous month, marking the fourth straight month of deflation and the sharpest monthly drop since June 2023. Price declines were observed across both the mining and quarrying sector (-3.03%) and the manufacturing sector (-1.21%). Out of 24 industrial activities, 17 registered price decreases, with the steepest falls in metal products (-3.46%) and other chemical products (-3.11%).

Food prices— the index’s largest component—also declined by 1.33%. Conversely, printing products saw a notable price increase of 4.36%. On an annual basis, producer prices rose by 5.78%, the slowest pace in eleven months, easing from a 7.54% increase in April. The manufacturing sector led the yearly gain, with prices up 6.45%.
