The United States and China are not engaged in any talks on tariffs, the Chinese embassy said on Friday, according to Reuters.
“China and the US are not having any consultation or negotiation on tariffs. The US should stop creating confusion,” a foreign ministry statement posted by the Chinese Embassy in the US read.

US stock index futures stretch lower following this headline. At the time of press, the S&P 500 Futures were down 0.2% on the day.
Meanwhile, the US Dollar (USD) Index retreats from session highs with the immediate reaction and was last seen trading at 99.62, still gaining 0.33% on a daily basis.
