Finnish Inflation Steady at 0.5% for 3rd Straight Month

The annual inflation rate in Finland stood at 0.5% in May 2025, unchanged from the previous three months and remaining at its lowest since December of 2020. Prices rose for food and non-alcoholic beverages (2.7% vs 2.3% in April), health (8.9% vs 8.1%), communication (3.1% vs 2.6%), recreation and culture (2.3% vs 2.1%), and restaurants and hotels (1.9% vs 1.7%). In addition, costs rebounded for clothing and footwear (0.2% vs -0.2%).

Meanwhile, price growth slowed for alcoholic beverages and tobacco (4.2% vs 4.3%) and furnishings and household maintenance (1% vs 1.3%), while costs continued to decline for housing (-2.7% vs -2.6%), miscellaneous goods and services (-0.9% vs -0.3%), and transport (-0.7% vs -0.2%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices fell by 0.1%, after a flat reading in the prior month.
