Polish Factory Activity Posts Largest Drop Since 2023

The S&P Global Poland Manufacturing PMI dropped to 44.8 in June 2025 from 47.1 in May, defying expectations of an improvement to 49 and marking the steepest deterioration in manufacturing conditions since October 2023. The deeper downturn was driven by the further contraction in new orders amid stagnant market conditions and weak international demand, particularly from European markets. Export orders saw their sharpest fall since September 2023.

Subsequently, output dropped at the fastest rate since November 2022, prompting firms to reassess capacity and cut jobs for a fourth time in 2025, though staff reductions eased slightly from May. On the price front, price pressures remained subdued, as input costs edged down, bringing an end to a three-month streak of inflation, while output prices posted a modest increase for the fourth time in the past five months. Looking ahead, business confidence weakened, with the 12-month outlook hitting its lowest level since November 2024.
