Retail sales in Portugal increased 4.8% year-on-year in May 2025, following an upwardly revised 3% surge in April. Sales of non-food products went up 4.7% (vs 0.8% in April) while sales of food, drinks and tobacco rose 5%, after a 6.4% jump in the previous month. On a month-over-month basis, retail sales soared 2.2%, the biggest increase since February 2022, following an upwardly revised 0.7% gain in April.
