Swiss Business Confidence Lowest in 20 Months

The KOF Economic Barometer in Switzerland fell to 96.1 in June 2025 from 98.6 in the previous month, below market forecasts of 99.3. This marked the lowest reading since October 2023 due to negative developments across most indicator groups, particularly in the manufacturing sector.

Within the producing industry (manufacturing and construction), sub-indicators related to various aspects of business activity showed predominantly negative trends, including general business situation, production, stockpiling of intermediate goods, order backlogs, and stocks of finished products. In manufacturing specifically, notable weaknesses were observed in the wood, glass, stone and earth segment, the chemical and pharmaceutical industry, as well as the metal industry. On the demand side, however, indicator for foreign demand showed a positive outlook during the month.
