Swiss Manufacturing PMI Rises Sharply in June
The Swiss procure.ch Manufacturing PMI jumped to 49.6 in June 2025 from 42.1 in May, returning to levels last seen early this year before Trump announced tariffs and significantly beating market expectations of 44. Although the index remained below the 50-point expansion threshold for the 30th consecutive month, the sharp rebound signals the sector is edging closer to stabilization.
The recovery was driven by a rise in backlog of orders (up 14.5 to 50.4), alongside increases in the gauges measuring output (up 7.3 to 49.7), quantity of purchases (up 6.6 to 44.1), suppliers’ delivery times (up 4.6 to 56.4), and employment (up 4.1 to 47.7). Meanwhile, reductions were recorded in purchase prices (down 1.3 to 47.1), stocks of purchases (down 1.9 to 40.1), and stocks of finished goods (down 0.5 to 42.7).
