Turkish Jobless Rate Eases in May
Turkey’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate slipped to 8.4% in May from 8.6% in the previous month. The number of unemployed individuals fell by 69,000 to 2.972 million. Meanwhile, employment increased by 100,000 to 32.519 million, lifting the employment rate slightly to 49.0% from a revised 48.9% in April. Male employment rate edged up to 66.3%, while the rate for women held steady at 32.2%. Additionally, the labor force participation rate remained unchanged at 53.5%. Youth unemployment (ages 15–24) declined to 15.4% from 15.7% in April.
