US Consumer Sentiment Rebounds in June
The University of Michigan’s consumer sentiment index for the US rose to 60.5 in June 2025, up from a near-record low of 52.2 recorded in both May and April. The figure significantly exceeded market expectations of 53.5.
This marks the first increase in consumer sentiment in six months, reflecting broad improvements in both current economic conditions and future expectations. However, sentiment remains roughly 20% below its December 2024 level, when a post-election boost temporarily lifted consumer confidence. Notably, inflation expectations also eased, contributing to the overall improvement.
